Glacier Bay, Alaska, May 10, 2008 Marjorie Glacier
Everyone needs compassion
Love that's never failing
Let mercy fall on me
Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Savior
The hope of nations
I woke up to this verse of the song in my head. And I had been singing just this verse and didn't get it, why I was singing it, it's a song I haven't heard in a while. I didn't really know what to expect that day in Glacier Bay-- what we'd see, or if we'd even see anything. When the glacier started moving, I realized it. And when the big chunk came down (in the video below), if I had not been in a crowd of hundreds, and if I had been standing instead of sitting on a railing, I would have fallen down on the deck sobbing. This video doesn't show really just how immense an area this was (the piece that fell was larger than our ship, and the biggest piece our naturalist on board had seen calve in his entire career), and it also doesn't show the huge wave that was created by the falling ice and rock. My Jesus, He can move the mountains...
Savior, He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save
He is mighty to save
Forever, Author of Salvation
He rose and conquered the grave
Jesus conquered the grave --Hillsongs United
Since I wrote this, I have gotten a huge number of hits on this page... I am thinking you're looking for the new Laura Story version of the song, so here it is:
An Alaska Fact!
Geologists have studied the limestone near this glacier. It's upside down. The only other place where this limestone appears, right side up, is in Tahiti!
